Any one removed their emblems?

I was interested in removing my 2500 and Cummins emblems. How hard are they to remove? And how do you remove them and not pull the paint off?

Use a plain hair dryer but might take some time. I use a autobody pro heat dryer and were off within 5 minutes.

I have also used WD-40 before which will help break down the glue behind the emblems.

Just clean up really good afterwards and you shouldn't have any problems.

what has always worked for me is this:

first use a piece of fishing line and with a "sawing" action place the line between the emblem and the paint. it will take the emblem off very fast and easy. next you will be left with the glue that was holding the emblem on. you didn't hear this from me but if you use a little bit of gasoline on a soft cloth it will remove the glue. not the ideal method as there are many glue removers on the market but this is what i had handy when i removed mine. after you remove the glue just use a good quality wax and you will be finished.

pinstripe removing wheel...

i took off the cummins badges by hand and spend like 30min each removing the glue off the paint... i then got a pinstripe wheel from napa for like >$10 [cdn]

the rest of the badges were off in about 45 min.. all you have to do is get the badge off, then use the wheel to grind the adheasive off... works great, just make sure the paint is clean around the area you are grinding at, then a little wd40 to take off the last little bits of goo, then just a quick wash...

now if a pro was at it, 30min seems like something that could be done for all the badges..

I used mineral spirits and a plastic kitchen spatula when I replaced my 2nd gens with 3rd gens. Just be sure to wash the mineral spirits off with dawn and then wax the area after you put the badge on.

Removing the badges is the easy part, heat the badge up with a heat gun (until the surface is hot to the touch), then slide some sort of prying device behind the badge (old credit card, plastic paint scrapers, etc.) and gently pull it away from the surface. The biggest PITA of doing this is dealing with the glue/residue left over, this stuff sucks. After washing the truck, I used the heat gun to warm the glue up then scrape as much of it off as possible. PB Blaster adhesive remover works better than a lot of other products for removing the left over glue from the body of the truck, Bug and Tar remover also works, just not very quickly.

My salesman told me a trick to getting the annoying dealer emblem off. Run an old credit card be hind it and it comes right off. Clean up with some goo off and your done. They used an emblem like the other ones on the truck. Should work.

Braded fishing line cuts through the foam tape adhesive easily without heating.

I had my kids peel the adhesive off by hand then wax on, wax off.

It really makes the truck look better without all the advertising all over it!

I envy you guys. Your stick on emblems are a breeze to remove compared to mine.

Mine has all the metal decals drilled into the body. I hate all these emblems also. It's a real PITA to wax around these things. I also like the smooth clean look that these metal emblems destroy. Why can't these chrome monstrosities be an option for those folks in love with chrome emblems. Maybe Chrysler could save some manufacturing costs by leaving these metal emblems off their vehicles.

Huh?? What trim package is that on? My 04.5 SLT has all the badges on with the adhesive tape. I haven't gotten to it yet, but my badges will be coming off soon.
