Another Unknown Chime Problem
OK, so back around the 12000 mile point I had this strange problem where I would be driving along and the truck would start to chime. It would do this a couple of times, quickly, and I couldn't figure out what was going on. The only thing I could identify was that the Lamp Out light would flash momentarily when it chimed. Well this lasted for about a week or two, and it just stopped happening.
Well guess what started again today?
Before, this was happening mainly during the night and I thought it might have something to do with the headlights, but now that we are in summer, it is happening without the headlights on. The truck is performing and operating perfectly normal, other than the occasional chime.
I asked the dealer to check for a code, and was told if the check engine light isn't on, or hasn't come on, then there will be no code. I have done the key test to see if there were any codes, and it comes back clean.
Any ideas? Anyone else have this happen?

I am having the same problem with my '03. Mine also decides on its own whether or not to use hi/low headlight beams! It has done this on several occasions! !
Dealer says my alternator is the problem, when this happens the volts are up.

OK, so a follow-up and the solution...
I started noticing that the chime and Lamp Out indicator would trigger when the truck would hit a bump or have any heavy motion. I did do an inspection of my lights and found that the Driver's Side Brake Light was not functioning. I bought a new set of bulbs and removed the cover, not an easy task, and inspected the bulb. The bulb was in perfect condition.
OK, that's enough of that, time to go to the dealer, that's what a warranty is for.
Dealer found that the module that connects to the lamp assembly had "fused" itself together. This is the dealers explanation, I couldn't get much more out of him than that. They then inspected the Passenger Side to see what it was doing, and they decided it was headed down the same path. So two new taillight units later, I am chime and indicator free.

a while back( 3 months) i was posting the same thing. it started to flash so briefly, i couldn`t get my eyes down there fast enuff to determine what the chime was repressenting. slowly, but surely it would get worse, with no true pattern to what was triggering it. Finally it was to the point that the darn "Lamp Out" light would be on as much as it was off. The dealer did a refash, a bulb replacement, and then found a hair line crack in the rear light assembly. they changed them both, and no more problems. It took 3 trips to the dealer to get it worked out, but they solved the problem.
