Question Another key fob question

I bought my '05 used, with 1 key and remote fob. Can I buy one of the new style keys that have the remote built on it? And have it cut to my truck and can I program the remote myself? My truck does NOT have remote start, it would only be for doors.

I think you have to have 2 keys/fobs to do it yourself. Otherwise may need a trip to the dealer for programming.

The combo route would probably work, but from my personal experience, to sync the remote part to the truck, 2 remotes were needed.

I went the other was as well. I have a key that is just the security key that stays in the truck. Use it to warm up and generally start the truck so j don't leave my key ring in it. I keep my remote on a keychain that is clipped to my belt. I do this because I have locked myself out of truck and home when warming up truck. More than once. It is also nice on valets parking and when I take to a shop for work so I don't have to remove the key from my main ring.

Another key fob question

Guys,

Does it throw Po513 code?
That is what my key is doing. My second key is dead from not using it.
Where can I get one other than Ebay?

key fob
I bought my 06 several years back and it had only one fob, needed another key for my wife as a back up. I went to our local locksmith and presented my problem to him. He said he had a key blank that he could make for me but it wouldn't unlock the truck remotely but would start it and unlock the doors manually. So I said go ahead and make me one, he said it was around a $100.00 dollars , I about walked out but asked him why so much? He said he needed my vin# and had to verify with Chrysler and get particular numbers so the key would work, huh, go figure, another way the truck manufactuerer has figured out to rip you off but like a dummy I said go ahead and do it. When he was done the truck unlocked manually, and started. So now my wife has a key. But if I'm out and about by myself and If I lock my key in my truck I'd have to break a window to get in. I then asked if he he could just make the key fob end and he said yes but it will just unlock the door only. Ah hah! So for $3.50 I got that blank end cut and it is bolted under a retaining screw under my rear license plate. Oh and by the way I did lock the doors once when I was out and about and the truck was running. I always carry my mutiplier so I unscrewed my rear licesne plate, I got the cut key blank end and unlocked the truck. So that saved my butt for $3.50. "Thats my story and I sticking to it"
