Another air conditioning problem

I have read and read used the search function but I'm still at a loss. My 05 2500 hasn't had working a/c since the warranty expired(just my luck). It blows strong just doesn't have any cold air. The air that comes out isn't hot but just about the same temp as outside. I do notice that the driver side is a tad less hot than the passenger side. I've read the posts and decided to check the recirc door right behind the glove box and it rotates open and closed as should. I checked under the hood and the line that runs from the front and past that black cannister has tons of ice and frost on it when I run the a/c. I have not yet tried servicing the freon due to the frost I just figured it has what it needs to be cold, that line is COLD. Am I over looking something or should I just start reading up more on the blend door???

the first place I would check is proper R134 level, if that is ok then go from there.

It almost sounds like a low charge if you say the cold line has ice and frost on it. I'd have the a/c charged if it were me.

make sure to add oil dye for diagnosis of finding a leak (if it has one). the dye can be seen with a black light if there is a leak.
