Another 3500 tire question

I searched all the archives and I still did not find a answer to my burning questons. Has anybody put any thing other than the stock 235 80 17 tire size on the stock dodge 3500 drw wheels. As everybody knows the tire choices open up greatly if you can get away from that stock size, if maybe something like the 265 70 17 fits or any other size somebody has tried.

I think someone here just put 315s on stock rims on a dually. Check the last couple of pages of all the 3rd gen forums. It's there somewhere...

There doesn't seem to be all that many choices available other than the stock size for the dually at the present time. Hopefully this will change.

Just be careful in selecting a different series that you don't downgrade the load range. I think the highest load range available for the 265 70 17 tire that you mentioned is a "C", well below the stock "E" tires. I could be wrong but it's something to watch for.

The 265/70/17 is standard on the SRW and is Load range E, however your problem is side wall clearance. When you upgrade to 70 the sidewalls of the tires will bulgeout and rub against each other. This will not allow the sidewalls to flex properly. THis will be a big problem with the truck, if you check the tire inflation guide that came with the truck or maybe the owners manual it tells you about this problem and to ensure to NOT let it happen.

You will definitely need spacers if you go with anything larger than a 265 tire.
