Anntena wire on back of radio

Ok, so about 3 moths a go I put a different radio in my '04 because the factory cd player didn't work. I go to pull the anntena wire out of the back of the radio and the black peice attatched to the wire stays in the radio and pulls away from the actual wire. The wire just had a thin piece of wire sticking out of the insilation. I tried to press the two back together. I got them back together but now my reception SUCKS! I can't get any stations hardly. Has anyone ran into this or know how to correct it? It's driving me crazy! Thanks

Eric

A bit late, but from the manual...

CAUTION: Pulling the antenna cable straight out of
the radio without pulling on the locking antenna
connector could damage the cable or radio.
(5) Disconnect the antenna cable by pulling the
locking antenna connector away from the radio (Fig.
7)

If you brought your truck to a good installer, he may be able to replace the tip for a few bucks. Another alternative is to replace the antenna/cable assembly.

Thanks. Man, I wish I would have seen that before! Replacing the cable doesn't sound like much fun. I'm sure it's buried among many other wire in the dash! I may have to though
