Alarm not working.

my factory installed alarm is not working. the little red lite comes on for a second or two at start up as it should. but when you exit the truck and lock all doors with the remote it does not arm. according to the owners manual it [the red lite] should flsh fast to ley you know it is arming, and the blink until it is disarmed. aia did not know it was not working until my wife noticed one night the red light was not blinking. took it to dealer they hoohed some scan tool or downloader to it but they could not get it to work. said they needed to talk to chrlyser tech support. the truck has been flashed several times for updates so maybe it was lost there somewhere. I sure am getting tired of these elec.problems on the 06,and nobody seems to know how to fix them. I'll keep you posted as to what is happening if I ever get a call back from the service advisor.

Day two. dealer and star have come to one conclusion. neither knows whats wrong or how to fix it. I suggested maybe an 07 Duramax might fix it.

That's hilarious - threatening a D-Max over an alarm... I do understand the frustration though!

Roll your window down.

Shut door.

Set alarm with FOB.

Open door by reaching through window. What does the alarm do? I'm wondering if it's just the light on the dash.

If the alarm doesn't go off, have DC put in a new alarm brain/module.

Update, they think it may need a new instrument cluster. I get worried when all they can say is we think it may be the problem. with the no start problems I had before now this I'm beginning to think my suggestion of an 07 Duramax may be my best alternative. I hate to say that ,but I had an 01 and 04 Duramax, and I thought this 06 Ram was the best of them all until these things started happening. I currently have 29,000 mi on the 06 .I drive it a lot. I had injector problems with both chebby's, but they never left me stranded.

Sounds like you need to go elsewhere. I thought I read that you can program functions through the ignition and the fob is that no true? I.E. turning the alrm off or on, Light flash etc I dunno mayby Im drunk.
