Air noise from driver's side
Do any of you suffer from an air leak in the driver's door when at speed? It is very loud and makes an already hard of hearing old man even less so! I have avoided ever going back to the dealer and would like to continue my odessey. I did spray silicone on the rubber seals around the door and haven't noticed a decernable difference. Adjustments I can make??? Thanks.

Popeye,
I have the wind noise too on the drivers door. Only noticed it about a month ago. It seems pretty bad on a really windy day driving at about 70 mph or so. I am going to the dealer to fix it since it is under warranty.
BTW, does anyone know what the factory uses for windshield wiper fluid? I get a really strong smell in the cab everytime I use it.

The wind noise is a pretty common complaint. I know I get noise through both driver and passenger doors when heading into a stiff headwind. It just hasn't annoyed me enough for me to go to the dealer and complain. -Steve

I have it too, as said only on windy days driving at 70. I never thought about taking it back to the dealer though. is it worth taking back? do they really fix it? not sure i wanna go through the hassle of droping off my rig if it still wont be fixed...let me know how it works out.

I'll let you know what happens. It may be a liitle while before I get the time though.
Overall I think it is a pretty quiet vehicle regarding road noise. Its funny though that DC has decided to add back the underhood insualtion that they left off on the 03 and early 04 models such as mine, or so I heard that they have added it back on.

Do you have trailer-tow mirrors? It could be those "barn doors" hitting the wind.
If not the mirrors, the doors are adjustable. The metal post that the door latches onto can be loosened and moved around. You can either use the special torx bit if you have it or a pair of vise-grips around the metal flange (not the plastic/nylon sleeve). If you move the post toward the inside of the truck, it will seal the door tighter (but it will also make it more difficult to shut). You'll just have to play around with it to find a happy medium. The factory sets the posts at a point where the body panels line up.....not where a good seal is made.

We also would align doors for wind noise/ panel alignment by bending the frame of the doors. If the door latches well but has a gap at the top, we'd put our knee on it and twist. Cars were the easiest, truck a bit more of a challenge. Always sent the customer away for coffee before we did it..
Window belt moldings and run channels will also whistle down the highway. Tape is your best investigative device.

I noticed a wind noise this past weekend, driving in a crosswind about 70. I could push on the bottom of the drivers window and it would quit. What I did next was just tap the drivers window button down and the noise went away completely. I noticed when I pushed the button to roll the window up, the very last movement the bottom of the window actually pushed outward, when I would tap the button to move the window down, the bottom of the window moved inward and the wind noise went away. Just thougt this might help someone with this noise, if it's the same. Good Luck.
