Air Horns Are Done!

Well, I thought I would share a picture of my air horn setup from Air Horns Of Texas. This is the 1230 kit. Very nice kit and they work perfect. The wiring was the hardest part just getting it to look nice and neat. I made all my brackets from aluminum except the bracket for the air tank which is steel. It took me around two weeks, off and on, to complete it. It was a slow process fitting everything just the way I wanted it. But, it was well worth the trouble. Everybody around town is giving me the signal to blow the horns. I love it!

Looks great!! What compressor is that? Is it a 100% duty cycle? I am researching compressors for use on the tires for our RV. We fulltime, and sometimes it is a hassle finding places to air up tires on a 38' triple axle fiver.
Air horns will have to come later.

Still trying to talk the wife into it. Funny huh how we just spent $450 to convert our incandescent lights in the fiver to fluorescent, but she doesn't seem to think we can afford a compressor for the truck . Oh well, she is worth it. Besides...we all know that if Momma aint happy........

looks good, I had my viair mounted exposed to the elements like that for 7 months, then I bought replacements.... not sure if it was due to the exposure or the 8.5 gallon tank I was trying to keep full with a 450c viair compressor........ I got twin 380c's now mounted in my tool box and love the fast fill of the duals. the word HORN in my sig is a link to the horn I have.

how far below the frame rails does that hang? it looks like it might drag or get damaged being hung out that low. very clean install though.

bam, that looks tucked up there pretty well actually, I think it is in the spare tire location, and as long as he is careful not to go over a stump just wrong, he will be ok

This one is just a 30% duty cycle compressor. It doesn't take much to fill the 2 gallon tank, but I wouldn't want to air up tires continously. It would burn the compressor up. If you are going to air up tires a lot, then you probably want to consider running a 5 gallon tank with a 100% full run time compressor.

You have to play with the horns a lot to get the compressor to kick on. I have the compressor wired straight to the battery and I use a toggle switch to cut it off and on. I haven't tried to air up a tire yet, so I don't know how that's going to do. But, the compressor works very good and is pretty quite.

The truck drivers don't know what to think when you get them to blow the horns and then you blow them right back at them. Did I say that I loved it?

I used the spare tire location. The receiver hitch is still lower than the compressor. You can't see it looking at the truck from the sides or the rear. So, it's tucked pretty good. You might be able to see the very top of the compressor, but that's it.

As tall as this truck is, if I were to drag or damage the compressor, the compressor would be the last thing on my mind.

I have scared so many people with these things, not meaning to. But, I do get a good laugh just watching how people react to the sound especially at cruize-ins and car shows. The horns will get everybody's attention if nothing else will! I love train horns, but the semi truck horns just fit the look. Thanks for the comments.
