I thought mine was not working well. I have a brand new '06 Mega Cab. I even thought about taking it back and complaining. But.......

I got around to putting the thermometer that I had in my ford into the vent of the new truck. It was over 90 degrees today and the humidity was high. The reading was a solid 39 degrees as I sat parked on a hot asphalt parking lot in the sun. The system is working fine. The cab is huge and that does make a difference in cooling down when it is hot from sitting.

BUT but but.The SIZE or amount of cold air discharged is virtually the same whether or not a small car or small truck cab or a big car or truck cab.Auto ac is not rated in BTU like in homes etc.I understand what your saying but CAB/Interior size DOES play a roll in it.The differance output of a Neon ac and a Mega Cab ac I bet is NOT very differant. Some yes but not much.My 1998 1500 standard cab feels MUCH colder MUCH quicker then my 4 door Gran Marquis or my 03 Dodge 4 Quad Cab or my brothers Caravan etc.But checking it with my little $5 thermometer its not any colder.

Used my '99 Ford E-150 cargo van today that has no carpeting or insulation on the inside....feels plenty cold and gets there twice as fast as my Mega.

I don't agree with the cab size arguement.

Then what would you believe. That the BIGGER the cab the BIGGER the unit thats under the hood and dash? Well its not.Ac condenser size does make some differance. But a LITTLE cars ac is not much smaller or LESS then a BIG cars ac.It does take LONGER to cool a LARGE area then a SMALL area with basicly the same size units.Whats hard to understand about that?

I've discovered a little quirk in my MegaCab that seems to make the AC work better. Instead of turning the temperature **** all the way to its coldest setting, I back it off a single click of the detent and the AC has been working much better. It's been anywhere from 97-103 degrees here the past week and the humidity is awful (we had thunderstorms 2 nights ago) and the AC has cooled the huge cab in only a couple minutes. Its worth a try.

Thats the case with all auto ac systems.gives the air a chance to cool down instead of being blown rapidly across the evaporator fins.

Correct, the temp ****, not the fan speed, and yes, back it off one click. It has worked for me thus far. If things change I'll be sure to inform everyone.

A bit slower fan speed(from wide open) lowers the temp also.

Never had a problem with my Megacab AC. Usually have to turn the temp up a little because it's too cold. This happens when outside temp is in the 80's. Typically, I use the setting of dash vent/floor vent or defrost/floor vent. I don't think I've ever used recirc.
