Air Bag Question

I just ordered a set of Air Lift air bags from Summit ($210 including shipping!). I was wondering if the unloaded ride will improve...you know the California freeway hop?

Just an opinion, but I think the hop is due to the 4 massive rear leaf springs that have virtually no weight on them. Adding air bags, changing shocks, all of that probably won't help a lot. Now if you could completly remove the springs and replace them with air bags like they do on air-ride trailers, that would give you a Cadillac ride for sure

Let me know if it helps, because I sure get tired of the bone jarring too!

Ill post Tuesday after the install and test ride. For some reason I'm thinking the bags will add some "cushion" at low psi.

The air bags will NOT help the empty ride one bit. What you need to do is adjust the air pressure in the tires down to about 50psi rear and 55-60 front.
After you do this you need to add about 100lbs to 300lbs to the rear of the truck. This will change the ride to be smoother. It has been said that in Cali it doesn't really matter due to the expansion joints in the roadway, but it will help. All the Air bags are going to do is make it stiffer in the rear and make it worse than what it already was
Remember after you put on the bags you have to maintain at least 5lbs of air in them or they can get all messed up from being smashed.

I guess I'll have to do the concrete bedliner to help the ride. I run low pressure (45 lbs rear) in my 315's already...Thanks Mike
