AC clunk

Does anyone else have this noise? When the A/C compressor turns on it clunks to the piont I hear it in the truck with the radio on!

From what I understand it is fairly common. Mine has done it for 2 years now and it still drives me crazy but it works. If you search, there should be some info on it. I noticed it isn't as loud sometimes, don't know why though.

fahgetaboutit!......Even the "old school" VP equipped trucks do this on the first engagement. We just have the proper engine noise to drown it out.

Mine has the loud clunk as well when the A/C is first engaged. Been doing it since it was brand new, and so far with no problems.

Mine has made more a loud, sharp 'SNAP' when the clutch engages. Sounds really wierd. It has made my wife jump on more then one occasion when it did it just as she walked past the front of the truck. She used to accuse me of doing it just to scare her.
As far as I can tell it's normal, the nature of the beast.

I believe there is a TSB for this problem. It is TSB 18-003-06 or TSB 18-005-06.

I will check on the TSB but I wonder what could they change if it is "normal"

I didn't know there was a TSB for it, seems like it's normal. My past 2nd and present 3rd gen both did/do it.
