800 Mile Club: 808.4 Miles on an OEM Tank
Who has the most miles driven on an OEM tank? I made a trip to Los Angeles from Sacramento CA with about 40 miles of city driving in downtown LA totaling 808.4 miles using 36.340 gallons. That equates to 22.25 MPG. When I finally fueled up the overhead says "Low Fuel"

I hit 700 with a little more than a quarter tank left last week. probably could have stretched it out. but I am working on a great streak of having NEVER run out of fuel, so I dont want to push my luck for the last 100 miles.
today however, I was not driving for fuel efficency, and have 600 at a quarter tank. its amazing how much careful driving can help your MPG's

I forgot to mention that I have done the tank vent mod that’s why I can stuff more than 34 gallons of #2 on an OEM tank. I have put close to 38 gallons on it in the past so I figured I had another 40 miles of fuel left before is is totally dry. I was lucky both leg of the trip I trailed a semi for about 280 miles each way going between 56-60 MPH. I never go over 60 MPH unless I’m going downhill which I coast down on neutral as far as I can go till I hit 50 then I put the G56 into 6th and caress the go pedal like there is an egg under it. I drive slower than a 90 year old grandma. I saw many Powerstrokes and Durmax’ and even a few CTD passed me like I was standing still looking at me like there was something wrong with my truck. However, I had the last laugh when I fueled up.

Either way congrats on you MPG's.

Best that I ever did was on a recent trip. I made it from Fort Irwin (30 miles outside of Barstow) all the way to Lordsburg, NM w/o a fuel up. 668 or so miles with an average of around 22 mpg. Blew me away. Didn't go above 65 the whole way and didn't have much wind to deal with.

Round trip from Sac to LA w/ 800 miles is great, but I could never go below the 75mph limit on I-5 or Hwy-99. Semi's do 80 mph ++++

Yep took 99 from Sac because I had to meet a fellow in Visalia. It took me about 7 hours each leg but it was worth the fuel savings. Semis use to do 80 when diesel was at $2 but not anymore. There was less than 5 semis that passed me and I was at 60. Speed is not worth the cost of fuel IMO. With only 18K on the clock, I'm hoping to get even better mileage @ 25K.

Yeah i am pretty pleased with the mileage these things get. On the way back from TN to MD i did my best to keep it under 70, cruised more at about 60 and did a couple heavy throttle passes but still managed almost 21 mpg hand calculated.
