Ok here are the pics of the spare tire. Its low but not that bad. Sorry about the quality forgot my camera and used my cell phone. As for the 1/4 mile lol. I don't race just use it to haul hay, the horses around, and when I have time my dirt bike. The fill up cost me $140 in Mexico with around 10 gallons in the tank.

I could really use one of these. I love how well it tucks up in there and you cant really see it from the side.

 

I wasn't going to go this route. I originally planned to use my stimulus check to go towards a Bio diesel kit. Between school full time and work full time I don't have time to make bio. So I went this route so I can fill up in Mexico once a month.

 

Very nice install/writeup, One question, Does it take long for the fuel to move to the aft tank during refueling?


I don't understand why they can't make an aux tank that goes on the other side like chevy and ford used to do, leaving my existing OEM 37 gallon tank in place. remember the ones where you had a switch in the cab for main tank and aux? The fuel guage would report the level for whichever tank was selected. I wonder if I could buy an OEM tank from someone thats gone the replacement route and hang it on the other side, anyone looked into that?

If you ran stacks, or dumped the exhaust under the cab, youd have a little room under there for a tank on the other side though.

 

The company does make a tank for the other side but they said you have to route the exhaust to the other side of the frame rail. I chose not to mess with that. 75 gallons is enough for me.

 

I installed the 60 gallon tank in my short bed. The install can be a pain if you do it by yourself. My tank had the mounts welded in the wrong spots, about 1" to low, so the tank that bolts to the frame, was hitting the truck bed cross member. I made some spacers and welded them to the brackets. Also, the fuel sending units shows full for along time, then drops fast.

You can order just the front tank or both. Also, the fill hose is re-used and doesn't really work well. Mine has a kink that limits filling flow. I need to put a 45 or new hose.

If you put a transfer tank in your bed, it has to be plumbed to the truck. I'm going from a 60 gallon to 100 gallon aux tank. I run the diesel through a pump/filter and not use the gravity hose. Here in the middle coast, the diesel is refined in the US(at least thats what I've been told) 107 gallon max to cross the boarder, but I gotten different numbers everytime.

 

after looking at the pics of the fuel tank, it looks as though the sending unit is lower than the top of the tank by a lot. That would explain the staying on full for longer and then going to empty a bit faster.

 

They told me that it was going to read full for a lot longer like the first few hundred miles. Right now I have a bit over 200 and it still reads full. Hey scout for the filler neck I just cut about 2in off of it and same with that over flow tube. There is a slight bend in the filler hose but I haven't had any problems filling up. Your tank looks different from mine. Looks closer to the drive shaft as well. I'm guessing they had to make it wider to fit in the short bed. That sucks about the brackets being off. Did you let them know? I sent them an e-mail saying that I thought the quality could have been better for what i paid for it.

 

I didn't think they made a 60 gallon tank for a short bed. That would explain all your trouble...trying to sandwich in a tank made for a long bed. Correct me if I am wrong.

I would love to have a larger tank for a short bed though. Actually, makes me want a long bed even more.

 

Aero has two different part #'s for the 60 gallon tank between the LB/SB.

 

i was hoping they had one for the short bed. anyone know the cost of the short bed model?
