68RFE shifter problem
Anyone else experience the following with their tranny also?
Put the shift lever from Park to Reverse so that you can see the little highlighted box on the "R", start to back up, and it drops out of gear (into Neut), and there is nothing showing on the shifter display. Wiggle the shifter handle and the display comes back showing it in "R" and I feel it drop into gear. The dealership I originally took it to (Valley Dodge) kicked me out saying nothing could be found wrong at this time, and they had never heard anyone else with the problem (BS). I stumbled on a lady at another dealership the same day that said her's was doing the same. A tech said that there is a cable from the steering column down to the trans that has a wimpy plastic bracket on the column that bends when putting it through the gears. I have yet to take it back.... due to red butt from Vlly Dodge. Maybe someone else has found a fix, or had theirs fixed for this?
