6 speed oil change
i have read to drain the 6 speed is to take out the lowest bolt on the pto cover, my question is i hear theres a magent in the bottom that should be cleaned out? do u have to take both pto covers off to get to it? how far is the magnet from the pto opening? also do u have to purchase a new gasket for the pto cover?? and im assuming that the best fluid to run in it is REDLINE MTL?

You have better access to the nagnet from the drivers side pto cover. Honestly, it is still very tight and hard to feel the magnet. Next time, I will just remove the bottom bolt and drain that way. I used RTV to seal the cover. No gasket. Redline is what I used. Seems to work well.

I changed mine at @7500 miles Jan 04 to Redline MTL and again last weekend at @27k miles again with another dose of MTL. Both times I've only removed one lower pto cover bolt from the driver's side. CAUTION: Make sure you can get the fill plug out before you remove that PTO bolt! They're in there pretty tight!

Redline is a good choice but you can also use Royal Purple Synchromax. I suggest using whichever is easily available unless you believe DC's fill for life.
I am using Synchromax as it is readily available from my local NAPA dealer. For Redline I would have to go looking, probably to the next town as my NAPA told me the NAPA in the next town carried it.

I would not use Royal Purple Synchromax in the NV5600. The RP viscosity is too light for use in the NV5600. Redline MTL meets the viscosity requirements. Other option is the Pennzoil/Quaker State Synchromesh fluid.
