6 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 dualies total in fire in transit
I work for Union Pacific Railroad and notice that our auto facility in Spring, Tx has six 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Dualies has been totaled out in a fire that started in one of the trucks while on the railcar in transit. The fire was reported by someone in the Bryan College Station Texas area and the train was stopped for the fire to be extinguished. The railcar was sealed up with all of the security devices intact making it difficult for the fire fighters to put the fire out. I spoke with the railroad police and they stated that one of the trucks had some kind of a short in the electrical system that was believed to cause the fire and was not vandalized. They also stated that this has happened before and only on the Dodge Dualies for some reason. I just wanted to let everone know about this in case a electrical short is causing this.

Just a thought . They were assembled in Mexico . The accessory outlet is hot even with the key off . What would happen if an assembler ( that can not read English ) put the lighter in the wrong hole ? That outlet would be my first guess .

i used to work for the company that handles the dodges in spring. we took delivery of fords in galena park, tx. and as far as being a troll, i dont think so, why would he wait 4 months to make his first post if the only reason he was here was to start trouble? what he says make sense, except the "security devices" he mentions can be taken off w/ a hard hit from a sledge, although we used a special breaker bar.

I passed by and saw all of these trucks in there where they had it parked off to the side. It was a horrible sight to see all of those trucks burnt up like that. I think i drove by 3 or 4 times to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me.

Sorry Derek not trying to make trouble here just trying to inform everyone of a possible defect. Fire was too hot to open the railcar up on the ends not knowing if the fuel tanks were going to explode.

Can anyone post if they were pickups or were they the cab and chassis model. I have a cab and chassis on order and this would be about the time it should be getting here.

They were caused by mexicans stealing the drivers side battery out of the truck and dropping the positve cables to ground. I have one in my stall right now thats burned up! also had two more that werent as bad that are already fixed
