I've learned it's not what the law says, it's what the officer says at the time. I'm not going to waste my time in court unless the fine is huge. He claimed they would start writing citation later this year. Yes they do wear black jump suits and act like God at times. Not trying to argue your point, just relating what I was told.

Guys like that forget who pays their salary. Good luck dealing with him - and get a green book just in case. They're about $5 at truck stops. Hopefully you can show him he's wrong before he starts writing.

Where do you get the Green book? Yea he forgot who helps pay his salary. He said he was too busy to answer a second question. If I'd read I might find you gave me the answer to my question. Thanks

Trucks stops like TA and Petro usually have them. You can order one from Berube's if you can't find them locally. http://www.berubes.com/43.html It's in the "Trucker's papers" section under "Safety Regulations."

So with all of this discussion is there a reason I should ask for a non commercial plate? I guess I don't understand the difference as far as me using it to tow a toy hauler and go to the store. Does it really matter that I have a commercial plate?

Trying to get an answer to your question(at least in NM). They didn't give me a special plate. Nor have they given my friends new 06 one.

Unless you are going to use the truck to make money with or push into the limits that say you are commercial, save the cash!
