305/555 trucks

I held out til I found a very cherry 03 (built 10-02) with 25k miles. I drove two 325s and several 305s before I got my 03. The 325s weren't nearly enough better to make me go for the lower mpg. My liftpump was weak and the Walbro on the side of the frame, very easy to service, sounded a bunch better than the intank pump. I haven't had any of the early 03 problems, like injectors, vibrations, broken alternator bracket, wind leaks or u-joints and the A/C is terrific! I'm still glad I went this way and wouldn't trade it for any 325. Craig

I drove and 05 today and it was sweet. Should I look into a 05 instead of a 305/555 truck because of the lift pump issue? High Idle would be nice too. Are there any problems with cats and EGR valves being on these trucks? Is there that big of a difference in fuel economy between the 305/555 and the 325/610s? Thanks guys keep the replies coming
What EGR valve? Not in '05.
The 555 gets better mileage as stated above.
Replace the stock lift pump on the '04 and you're in good shape

Simply look at the fuel filter canister. If it has a fuel pump mounted to the back of it you are still stock. If not you could have an in-tank retro or some other system.

Rip 112, I doubt if I'll ever dyno it. It does all I want it to do. I've read about a stock 305 making ~430 on Pred Extreme and I have all the air and exh. mods, plus a turbo. I run the 100 hp tune and it's great for towing. I know I'm on the edge with Extreme - the clutch holds but I never hammer it down low. I love the A2000 - it's perfect for my city/mixed driving and egt is low, 1225 max on 100 hp. EGT might be even lower since I built the airhorn. I towed this weekend and didn't even think to try WOT. I'll check it in 3 more weeks, when we're camping again. I talked to ATS a week ago. There's no more A2k. They made improvements to the A3k so it's as quick as the old A2k and moves way more air, so they dropped the A2k. I'd like to have an A3k but they said the A2k is good enough for my mods. Craig

My 03 has been the most trouble free vehicle i have ever owned. knock on wood.
I just added a HTT62/12 and a SBC con ofe last weekend. had to replace the PS pump just after warranty because the seal went out. ..... otherwise i change the oil and drive the beast and she never misses a beat. i havent even put brakes on it yet and this one just clicked 75k
mileage rivals my old 12v's

Hey Rick,
I haven't heard of any starter issues but recently there's a post with an issue with a wire off the starter rubbing a bracket and shorting.
