I'm really happy with my 285s. I ran 315s for a couple years and had no real issues but I decided to go to 285s for a little more hp on the dyno. I think the 315s look better but I'm probably gonna stick w/ the 285s...... Maybe

if I switch from a stock 265 tire, to a 285 tire......is the tire taller or wider, or both, next question is, do you gain or loose mpg....thanks.

The 285s are a little taller than the 265s, about a 5% change in the speedo.

When I went to 315s I noticed a drop of about 1.5 MPG and the steering was not quite as good. Going back down in size to the 285s seems to have given me my mileage back and they steer just like the original 265s.

You will need to get your pinion factor reset for speedo accuracy.

The 285s are a good choice for looks, traction, and driveability.

So far most of the input I have seen is from 48RE owners, any G56's out there with 285-315 experience?

If it does, it will be minimal and probably only the city mileage. Hwy mileage doesn't seem to be affected by the larger tires...

What has been the change in RPM and mileage going to the 285's?

BFG ATKO's are the best you can get. something like 19 straight baja 1000 wins....that does it for me. i just put some 285's on mine. the stock 265's had 58K on them and i could of still got another 10K. i should be able to get 60+K our of the AT's.

To all who have gone to the 285 LD D's, Have you noticed any increase in tire roll going from a 10 ply to a 8 ply? I'm in the market for tires but have been told by the local tire shops that the only LD E tire in a 285 is the toyo open country but won't be available until fall. I use my truck to tow quite a bit and don't want to have to worry about tires.

Thanks,
T398

If your racing your truck on autocross tracks then I would worry about tire roll. Towing should not be a problem, the only difference is the load range.

so you had procomps and the only reason yu didnt like them was b/c the wear? How was everything else, was it pretty much the same tire as the BFG AT?
