265 vs 285 - Will it fit in the garage?
If I go from a 265 - 70 -17 to a 285 - 70 -17. Will this make the truck overall 1" taller or 2" taller?
I need to know because it will NOT fit in the garage if it makes it 2" taller....

the diameter of the 265 is about 31.7" and the 285 it is about 32.8", roughly about an inch. so it will lift the truck about 1/2" higher only. You need really big tires to lift 2" hope this helps

Thanks for the info! I thought the tire being 1" taller would raise the truck 1" minimum. Why would it only raise 1/2" if the tire is 1" taller? Is it the air pressure??

keep in mind the axle mounts to the middle of the tire, not the top. the overall height difference is 1", from the bottom of the tire to the top of the tire. your tire mounts to the truck 1/2 way up, so 1" taller tire raises truck 1/2".
kind of reminds me of something dad used to say when somebody had a flat...
"Its only flat on the bottom, so drive it on the top..."
