21.6 MPG hand calculated !!
anyways, had nothing better to do today so I took a 260 mile trip (130 each way) just to see what the mighty Cummins was capable of. kept it at 65mph the whole way (just below my vibration point) for the most part (slower thru a city), AC running most of the time, between 81 and 86 degrees out, rolling at just shy of 1900 RPM, stopped at 2 rest areas and a restaurant where it idled a couple minutes before shutdown, 20000 on the odometer and don't think its ever really been worked hard a day of its life, 7150 LBS with me in it and a full tank of fuel, even filled up at the same diesel pump both times, everything stock, and overhead said 20.5 which I thought was odd since most peoples are much higher than actual.
whether you believe it or not doesn't bother me, I have no reason to lie
sorry I'm just a little excited about this

COngrats. If I keep mine at 65mph, the tach reads about 1550 and it gets killer mileage like that. any faster and the mileage drops pretty good.

I tryed to see what the best MPG I could get on a road trip once, set cruse at 69-70, with my tires that about 1900 RPMs. That lasted less then an hour then my foot sliped on the skinny pedel and it was all down hill from there.

I tell myself each tank, "Alright, this tank, were going to see the best we can get" Then that all goes out the window when some idiot is driving 15mph under the limit in the left lane...
OR when I want to hear the stacks sing just a bit
Like you tried, I think the best I ever got was 17mpg, on a 200ish mile roadtrip, cruising right at 70mph, and that was before the lift/tires, now I cant break 15, no matter how I drive...

it was a little embarassing passing only a couple big rigs and being passed by duramaxes and powerstrokes with heavy trailers
I'll probably never get that mileage again, normally I get 15.5 to/from work a little warm up in the mornings, really don't need this much of a truck I plan on changing that someday but it sure is fun to drive.
dang, thats hardcore driving there I drove 1200 in 19hrs once in my car (lots of stops) that about killed me.

You guys that are getting 14-15 might want to have your injectors checked out. I was getting the same until I found out I had 2 injectors "underperforming". After they were replaced I was back up to 18 mpg.

I posted that I got 21.4 mpg back awhile ago and got slapped down quite badly. So I am very slow to post anything on here , because If you don't have 2000 posts no one listens to you.

can't really blame the non-believers though as they haven't had it happen to them, I wouldn't have believed you until today either. I'm still in disbelief that I really did get that good mileage, is there any possibility that the tank filled more the first time and filled much less the second?, probably not but I'm having a hard time believing my truck would be different than 90% of all the others.

I may though, I know im deffinantly not doing the reflash either, I heard guys got worse mpg after having it reflashed and wished they never had it done.
I may have the injectors looked at though, but ive been getting the same mpg since I bought the truck with 34k miles on it, 45k on it now...

I was getting a little over 17 mpg hand calculated off the lot, tested the first 3 tanks hand calculated. Seems like my overhead thingy is about 10% high.
At 4500 miles it seems like it is getting a little better.
