2007 A Pillar Grab Bar

2007 2500, the A piller grab bar is loose. I see to two access panels. Upon looking I see two bolts. I assume they are metric. Tried 10-14 and none will fit. Anyone tell me what size bolt head? Could it be a Torx?

Unless they changed it isn't a Torx, I want to say it was 10mm for some reason, but not positive. It's doubtful it is loose, they break frequently. If you find it is broken ImcoProducts sells a kit to prevent future breakage. Geno's carries it now. I went through several A-Pillars between my 2002 and 2006, installed the kit and haven't broken one since.

I only have standard where I'm at right now.

3/8 = 9.5MM Too small
7/16 = 11MM Too big

I have an '07, and I just took down my A-Pillar to run new wiring for some new gauges up at the rear-view mirror. The socket used was a 10mm.

As all the above post say, it's 10 mm. How difficult can that be to determine even on your own? Do you own a flashlight that you can shine up there and see that it is a hex bolt head? Then just try sockets till you find one that fits.

This is not about the OP specifically but:

Geeze, computers and the internet really are dumbing down society! Dosen't anyone think for themselves anymore?

It's a 10mm on my '06. I also recommend the repair kit from Geno's. Easy install, though I had to grind down the little tabs on the back of the molding like some require before the cap can fit on. Just a few extra minutes to do that.

Replaced the pside pillar once already. Not doing that again if the kit does what it says it'll do.

I made my own "repair" kit using 1/2" emt with a piece of bar stock welded to one end for both the driver and passenger pillar. I did this because I have a friend with a prosthetic leg that would put his whole body weight on the grab bar and I could see if flex a lot. I did this before it broke, now it's very solid.

That was a heck of a lot less than $45 and I didn't have to wait for it to arrive in the mail....

No need to be an "A hole" If I wanted sarcasm I would of asked this question on one of the other sites. I was just asking a question. I did just what you suggested and none of them seemed to fit. Have a nice day!!

Just an update. I went with the suggested repair kit and will be installing ASAP. Again my concern is my wife's safety in that she depends on the grab handle to get in the truck.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
