I paid 1100 for mine..
It was just an upgrade for me.. it upgraded the 7/70 powertrain to a 7/70 bumpre to bumper...
I looked at all the electronics in the truck and figured it might pay off in the end.
I bought one on my Durango and it paid for itself just in power window motors (3), AC problems and a blend door.

Seriously, I'd reconsider.
If you get an auto that will be the weakest link and the thing mostly likely to need fixing, and when they do it'll still be the weak link, DC is not going to do any of the HD rebuilds.
I've had my truck almost a year and am kinda worried about any mods I do affecting the warranty. If you keep coming to this or any other Cummins forum it will be AWFULL hard to resist the urge to put in a chip, programmer etc. I was going to leave it all stock but it's not going to happen, I just can't resist the urge!
So, unless you're going to keep it 100% stock, don't get the extended warranty, hold onto the money, it'll come in handy later (for mods).

I know many think the extra warranty is worthless but I got one on my truck and also when I bought my wife a used 06 Sebring. For us it has already started paying for its self from a week of a loaner car (we put over 700 miles on the loaner car in 5 days) while it was in the shop for a new O2 sensor and new PCM. Under the 3/36 warranty Dodge does not give out a loaner car for free but it’s coved by the extra warranty. Yes we take a chance when you buy it but all it takes is one or two repairs to pay for its self.

Nope 3/36 except engine and fuel system. Before 06 it also had 7/70 on powertrain and basic was 3/36.The 7/70 was dropped after the 05 model year.Read yoy warranty info.
