2007 dodge 2500 electronic trailer brake controller porblems
I have just recently purchased a 2007 dodge ram 2500 with the 5.9 cummins in it. It had a electronic brake controller installed in it already... I hooked up to my travel trailer yesterday and the brakes did not work, also did not get any lights on the brake control unit. So far I have checked the fuses, replaced the trailer hook up end on the travel trailer(there was some corrosion on the contacts so I though that maybe that had something to do with it) bought a new Hopkins controller and the wire harness that goes along with it that plugs directly into the socket under the dash and still no good... All if the trailer lights are working and it's getting 12 volts to all of the accessorys inside the rv. I thought that maybe I had a wiring issue with the trailer, but I had a buddy hook up with his truck and the brakes worked fine with his truck and brake controller. So I back to trying to trouble shoot the truck. I know the new unit is getting power because it has a digital read out and you can adjust that gain and power setting and it lights up when you adjust the power level. Any ideas ?? Thanks Ryan

I don't have the same controller as you but the instructions say it should have a red dot in the lower right hand corner to indicate it is connected to the trailer. I have a prodigy and it gives you a (C) to tell you its connected. I would test it at the plug with a voltmeter while someone moves the override button.
