I see the rumored 68RE talked about. What happened to putting the Aisin in the 2500/3500 pickups? Bummer.

The 6 speed Aisin tranny was for the Cab and Chassis truck only. The 68RE will be for all other HD Diesels.

The 68RE is a brand new transmission designed by Dodge for the diesels and hasn't been used before. The Aisin is an existing unit in production and in use.

Here's another interesting thing. The new 68RE is an "Autostick" transmission, which let's you manualy override the current gear by moving up or down a gear at any time. That should keep everyone happy!

I'm waiting on the 2007's...when does Dodge typically release the "official" info for the next model year? When are they available for ordering? And when do they usually hit the lots?

WTH is an active turn signal? Does that require synthetic fluid?

New SXT Value Group with steel chrome-clad wheels, power locks, power windows, power
mirrors, cloth 40/20/40 bench seat, carpet with floor mats, and speed control

Kinda cool option. Always loved ST but didn't like the fact that it didn't have power mirrors. Don't care much about power locks or windows. Like the rubber floor standard with ST. Come to think of it I will stick with ST on the next truck

I havn't heard anything about 2 different 6 speeds and i follow most of these sites pretty closely. i could be wrong, but whats the point of having two transmissions that do the same thing? i guess we just have to wait and see when the trucks get here. No flames intended.

Maybe the Aisin 6 spd is just much more heavy duty to go in the work version of the truck? Maybe the Aisin has PTO and the 68RE doesn't?

The Active turn signal apparently lets you activate it and it stays on for 3 seconds and then goes off by itself (good for lane changes I guess).

From what I've been reading the 68RE is a DONE DEAL, there is no possibility of the Aisin going into the regular 2500/3500 trucks. I have no idea about the reasoning, but I'd guess it has to do with the cost (in house = cheaper) and possibly weight. I've read of at least one 68RE engineer who is very enthusiastic about the 68RE and will be buying a new truck with it as soon as it's available. They claim it was desgined to be an Allison / Torqueshift beater.

Personaly, I'd love to see the 79REM tranny, but I digress ....
