Buddy bought a used 2004 CTD dualie auto. Build date May 2003. Anyone know when dodge began assembly of the 2004's? His is the S/O engine.

 

If it's an 04, then its got the HO 305/555 engine in it.

 

If he's in CA then he could have the SO CA model. In January of 2004 they began the 04.5 with a CAT and they could be sold anywhere in the 50 states and had 325 HP and 600 TQ. May 2003 sounds about right for 1st production on the 04's.

 

My 04 305/555 was built in May of 03 and delivered the beginning of August.
I guess that means it will be 3 yrs old this summer.
Hurry up with the long bed Mega Cabs. LOL

Before Jan '04 you could buy the 235 Hp motor or the HO 305 Hp motor trucks, at least you could here (California). The dealer I bought from had the 600 series, and both the 235 and 305 Hp trucks on the lot when I bought my 2004.5 in Oct. of 2004. There were also several different sets of CPL's (Control Parts Lists) sold depending on exactly what month the truck was manufactured. My 2004.5 is CPL 8347 the second of two CPL's sold just in the 2004.5's.
Hope I didn't confuse everyone.
