2004.5 front brakes
I did a search on brakes and found several opinions. I have decided to go with the OEM front pad set from the DC. I stopped in at my local dealer today for a price and was a little shocked... .... He said he could order a set of OE front brakes for my truck for $134 + tax... What do you all think of this price? Is it in the ballpark or too high. I referenced some threads that said that these OE brakes are something Dodge actually did a good job on and should replace with them instead of others. I guess I'll have to pay the price, but was wondering if anyone knew of a cheaper price or was $134 not bad. Thanks, Greg

I don't remember exactly what I paid, but I did go back with the OEM pads. I think that sounds pretty close to what I paid. I do think the manufacture OEM brakes are pretty good. I'll see if I can find the invoice later.

You could try this site. A little bit cheaper.

Edit:
www.trademotion.com Actually its Mechaniscsville Dodge in Va. you can do a search and find the trademotion link to their store on line. They have them even cheaper at roughly $88 a set for the front pads. All the sites I visited showed the pads at $118.00 MSRP

I just paid $106. for the premium pads from the dealer near here. Prices vary from $106. to about $140. I'm willing to pay it because they work so well.

I was suprised the other day when i checked mine. I had a flat tire on the front so when I removed it I checked the pads and they still looked like new. I figured with as much talk as there is abought front breaks on here that they dident last long. I have 50K on the truck and the pads and rotors look like new, at least on the passanger side.

One of the big things going for you is you have the 6 speed so you probably down shift and thus need to use your brakes less. I only have 43,000 on mine and they look great. I will be checking them again at 45,000 when I rotate my tires. I rotate my tires every 5K - 6K so I check my brakes then, I also have close to half the tread left on my tires with very even wear.

Reminds me, I need to check mine. I'm sure they are fine, but I get a little bit of a squeak on light braking, that drives me crazy. I'm sure they aren't worn out yet, as I only have 35k miles on my truck.

Did the 2nd gen trucks have brake problems? Seems like I was talking to a guy with a 2nd gen truck who liked everything but his brakes. If so, was this something DC fixed? Just wondering.
