11.3 mpg...Normal ??

I see everyone is talking about the difference between the overhead and hand calculating your mileage. One difference might be that some people figure their fuel mileage after the have topped off their tank. I watched mine and I can add 3.9 gallons more to my tank once the pump has kicked off. I figured my mileage at that point and then also after I had topped it off. I came up with 14.4 after I topped if off. When I calculated the mileage at the cut off point I came up with 16.3 which is the same amount that my overhead was showing.

If you use the same "topping off" procedure each time you should get a pretty accurate hand calc MPG. After the pump kicks off I spend another 2 or 3 minutes filling it and add probably another 2 gallons. I realize that if you spend 20 minutes there you can wait for the foam to go down and maybe get a few gallons more. The key here is consistancy, IMHO.
478 / 29.2 = 16.3 same as overhead
478 / 33.1 = 14.4

Just got my first 20 MPG tank on my 2006 Megacab 6 speed. This was 80/20 highway/town with about 25 mils pulling a small 2500 pound trailer. I managed to stay under 65 mph and drove it soft to get good mileage (except when some Ford tries to pass).
It has constantly gotten better. I was getting 14 to 15 when brand new and now have 17,000 miles.
I am running 34 inch tires - helps keep the RPM down. Have had the reflash and have the timing sensor adjustment mod.

Just got my usual mileage 20.4 mpg on a 750 mile trip to Houston and back last weekend. That was with a motorcycle in back and lots of gear/tools/etc. About 90% highway 10% city with a 20 mph stretch during heavy rain on I-45 for about an hour. I fill to the top of the neck and also use about 12 ounces of power service per tank. Its no accident though. I try to get good mileage by driving and not just doing the math when the fuel is gone.

miss my 98.5 5spd. @ 22+ mpg on the hyw and an average of 17 on and 20/80(hwy/city) + alot of idle time on job sites
07 averaging 15 on hwy and 17+ in town
the in town being higher than hwy baffles me
maybe that is the problem baffles baffles in the intake , baffles in the exhaust everywhere I turn another baffle

My first post here. I purchased an 06 A/T about 6 months ago. Production date is 10/05. My avg MPG with 7k on the clock and about 75% city driving was 13.5. I just took it in for an oil change and had it Reflashed for sloppy shifting and it used to "hunt" a bit for gears. After getting it back even my wife noticed how much better the shifting feels. My overhead shot up to 22 on the highway and 17 around town now.... I will be interested to hand calculate to see if it does better. I have always hand calculated and my overhead used to be within 1 mpg... even a little better mileage and I will be happy.

I haven't been driving mine much since my last post in this thread. I did fill up (didn't really need to - about 300 miles) with similar driving and same top off technique and hand calculated 14.89. Getting better.
Man this next day or so will be tough with the time change (woke up at 3:05 AM).

I don't see why not. They will do it for any truck that meets the criteria. But, it will probably cost a few bucks to have it done.

The Flash for my truck only covered June of 05 to November of 05. My truck was built in October. Some guys say the flash did nothing or made there mileage worse. Even if my mileage stayed the same I would still be happy with the transmission difference. We took it out yesterday for a 130 mile trip and it shifts noticeably crisper and Im sure my mileage is better. Cant wait to fill up..
