08 2500 mega cab overloads???

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has purchased the over loads for a 3500 and added them to a 2500 mega cab. The dealer looked up the parts and told me that you can order overloads on a 2500 mega cab. A buddy of mine has a 3500 mega cab and his brackets that the overloads touch are welded to the frame which the rest of the 2500's quad cabs regular cabs have had the brackets riveted on. I was just wondering if I could buy the brackets for a 2500 and drill the required holes in the frame and bolt them and buy the 3500 overloads and longer ubolts with the spacer block? Has anyone done this? Im really not wanting to put air bags on the truck thanks in advance.

I thought about doing this too but instead I got Timbrens and they work awesome.
I'm sure you could drill and bolt the stops on but you have to make sure you get some super strong grade of bolts or you will just rip them off the first time you load the truck down.

I know of a guy in California that is selling a complete set of 3500 springs right now. I tried to just get the overloads (Thinking about doing the same thing as you ) but he just wants to sell the whole sets together. Shipping would kill me so I had to pass. PM me and I'll give you his contact info....

The reason I was considering doing this was that although the Timbrens do an awesome job of keeping the truck from squatting, they do allow the truck to bounce side to side more than the factory overloads do. I'm gonna stick with the Tims since they don't cost much.....

I have Timbrens as well. (timbren.com).
there is the air bag option, or something like Hellwig (hellwig.com) spring overloads. A factory set-up should be your last choice in my opinion.

I think a better bet may be airbags or timbrens. Both are fairly inexpensive options, and both install in 1-2 hours. Plus, you are not supposed to drill the frame....(and this is hotly debated).

I actually did this to my 03 2500. I got the springs from Chrysler, and bought the brackets from Ford for a 2000-ish F-350. I measured and drilled one side of the frame. I tapped the holes using 3/8 fine thread and hardware. Worked great. I have only had 3500's since and I have had Air-Lift bags on one of them. I have to say that I like the cushioning that the bags give you over the violent jounce that extra load springs give you.

Thanks guys. I found the over load springs I was looking for and they are off a wrecked 07 2500 truck. The place wants $90 a peice and $35 a peice for the brackets and they will throw the ubolts in for free. I may just order everything from Dodge though. If I do decide to go with the factory overloads how should I figure out where the brackets need to be? Should I just load the truck down and then figure out where they should be touching the springs or what? I wish they would just bolt on like on the reg/quad cab trucks. The 3500 mega brackets are welded on. How well do the timbrens work as far as keeping the rear end from sagging with a heavy load?

You can go to a car lot and take some measurements.....the Timbrens work well.

Honestly the airbags and timbrens probably work better than the overloads do with sag. Airbags have the flexability to bring the truck back to level with a heavy load, especially useful at night when even with the overloads the headlights would be pointing skyward.... And if you are already looking at $125 you could throw another $100 and get the airbags.... new...

I have never seen a 3rd gen 2500 with overloads...

My dad has a 06 2500 and wants to add the overloads. He plans to have an auto shop weld the frame mounts on. This will give him 5 points of contact for the weight on the frame (like my truck), vs. the 3 he has now.
