Plug,

The amp is turned on by a can-bus signal. You will need an aftermarket adapter to turn it on. PAC Audio makes one and I believe Metra makes one also.

They are not cheap, but break down the can-bus signal to give you your normal wiring, ie, power, ground, remote, amp turn on, as well as back up signal, VSS, etc for navigation units.

there has got to be another way tho, a keyed 12v source should work also, Im just looking for something close by. My amp has speaker wire inputs, so I shouldnt need to buy one of those PAC audio kits.

Wait hang on, you using an aftermarket amp?

If so then no and 12v keyed source will work. If using the factory amp then it takes a digital canbus signal and needs the adapter.

yeah, sorry for the confusion, Im adding an amp and a sub. ive already gained access to the pass door speaker wires, and according to that link above, the gr/yl is the positive.

Was just curious what others had done for amp turn on.

You leaving the stock radio in?

If not, use rca's from the aftermarket radio. If so, the I would use a line out converter.

Id use something like this rather than trying to patch into both door speakers' wires.

is that really any different than just connecting to an amps speaker wire inputs? Ive always assumed they were essentially the same.

Now I do understand that the cleansweep, PAC audio and the audio control LC7 are summing devices or something, which I may look at doing also, I just havent decided what route to go with the stereo. I do like the usability of the factury head unit, just not the sound.

Its not really any different, it just allows you to do everything in one place behind the dash.

If you like the oem radio and REALLY want to keep it, then cleansweep is the answer.

However, keep in mind, you can get a decent aftermarket deck, some with ipod controls and bluetooth, for what a cleansweep will run you.

I know, frankly its cause i like steering wheel controls and "stock" look. He hear spotty things on the steering wheel adapters.

Myself Ive heard they are spotty at best.

Just realized what you meant...

Ive never personally put one in, but heard a cleansweep in a Toyota and it sounded amazing.
