06 radio comes and goes

My factory radio comes and goes.....I can get in the truck and the radio will come on and work fine until I kill it. Then, when I get back in the truck it may or may not work. When it does not work it acts as if it had no power, wont do anything, no lights nothing. It will eject a cd but then instantly goes back to dead. Next time Im in it the radio may work fine, or may not do anything, but so far eventually it will come back on but only when It has been killed and cranked again. Any suggestions on this one? Thanks in advance for any help at all.
Ken

It's your batteries, I was having the same thing and found a thread on here. The batteries were getting weak. I replaced them and all is good. I had noticed that the truck was cranking a little slow but was letting go further.

Did you fix this issue? Mine just started doing exactly the same.

Come on. Someone must have had this happen to them too.

Both my batteries are connected correctly, body grounds appear connected, batteries test OK.

It seems to be tied into whether or not the grid heater kicks in.

Radio works 8 out of 10 starts. This is just annoying.

Help.

My 99 would do this. Wasn't the batteries. One day it took off wide open and wouldn't stop, even if you turned it off. Scared the crap outa me. Had to pull the fuse to shut it up. I installed a Walmart special in it place and a few weeks later someone chopped a hole in the dash and cut all the wires behind it to help themselves to it and didn't even leave a thank you note.

It was the passenger battery. The system tested OK but when separated from the trucks electrical system one had a dead cell. No issues for a week now.

I should know better than to doubt the forum. I apologize.

Same thing happened to my 06, it was the drivers side battery. Took me over a year to figure it out.

same here. after replacing my batteries i havent had a problem since. mine was a bad drivers side. always replace both batteries at the same time IMO. i read a thread on here that said the PCM will kill the radio on start-up to try and send all available voltage to the starter.
