'06 megacab 386 miles
I'm new to the Cummins engine so if anyone has any pointers on break in, problems areas, or things to do or not to do please help me out.
I'm in the process of trying to sell my '99 ford superduty 4x4 crewcab powerstroke. It'll be nice to not have to worry about adding coolant conditioner, the turbo falling apart, electrical gremlins, the exhaust gas bypass valve only giving me 10 horsepower to drive with............. The list goes on.
I love the Dodge and hope for many years of service.

I have about 2000 miles on my megacab since late June and have loved every mile. I drove 500 miles before I started towing. My understanding is that is for gears and drivetrain more than the motor. Many have recommended 1000 miles but I needed to tow right away

I also got fed up with Fords excuses as to why their equipment would not stay running correctly. I hooked up my 06' with a 16,000lb 5er at 500 miles and pulled it 750 miles. My mpg's went from 15 driving around town before I left to almost 20 when I got back. I guess I loosened it up a little.

I just went threw Denver twice in the last couple weeks pulling my new Toy hauler loaded. I was definatly not wonering if it was back there anymore. Across Iowa and Nebraska i forgot abought it but as soon as i hit the west edge of Denver the truck earned its keep.

new truck
Drove mine home from the dealer in Neb. and hooked up the tailer and headed out the next day to work(400 mi.). I would have gotten the CTD sooner, but I had to wait for the Ford('03 PWRSTK) to get out of the shop to trade it.

The cummins LOVES to have something to work against. Break her in nice and soft at first, to get the fluids flowing, mostly to break in the ring/pinion gears, then give'r'some. I was amazed that my fuel mileage improved after towing!
