06 Ignition Key (lock/unlock fob) - Will dead batteries leave you stranded?
#16
It will work to affix it in the steer columb. If you have a plain cut key just hold it beside the ignition when you start. It stays running then you can take it away. Used this method for about 2 months before I got a spare sentry key. Also, buy the keys online have them cut then go to dodge. The keys are cheap on ebay. Some lock smiths can program it too

Ok here is one for yall.
What if I take apart one of my big ole bulky keys and zip tie or tape the guts under the clamshell to the ignition cylinder so that I could use a regular key all the time.
To retain my keyless entry, could a key fob from the 05 and down trucks be used...
I have one lying around from my lil bros 03 gasser.

I tried a few of the ebay keys.
It was hit or miss to get them to program correctly and hold a code.
I tried setting my key by the ignition and unlocking the doors...alarm went off AND the truck shut down after a few seconds of running.
I swear there are times I almost go back to the Dark Side just to get a regular ignition..
