06 with crack on tires

Well I was lucky enough to pick up a new shinny nail in my left front tire
somewhere yesterday. Found it this morning when i got in my truck. Not even 1k on truck and I get a nail. After a breif period of looking over the tires, I found the nail and about 1" from the rim all the way around all 4 tires i have a series of small cracks resembling dry rot? Is that possible? Anyone else have/heard of anyone with similar issue?

1000 miles? Take it back to the dealer for warranty replacement of tires.

I suggest that you, and all others that have new trucks check your tire presure, I do not know why, maybe for a supple ride while you test drive it but most new trucks will be way underinflated, . My truck was rolling on about 35 psi when I drove it home.......... 1000 miles on real low presure can do some nasty things heat wise if you had much of a load on them.

I had all four Mich's replaced after picking up my 2005 last summer and discovered the cracks when washing the truck with 500 miles on it. Dealer wouldn't touch it stated they were only able to warranty Good Years, had to go through a tire store, but wasn't charged. Just a hassle.

Noticed a couple weeks ago that the new Michs with 10,000 miles on them, have developed the cracks again, and I stay on top of my tire pressures and have never ran low PSI in them, or have overloaded the truck.

Probably won't look at Michelins in the future, due to this.

Found it in a lot of tires, It does not look good but has not done anything to the tire was told it is UV and I now have 51000 on the tires with maybe 10k + left never rotated or done anything other then check air in them.
Will be going with the same tires next time.
If you had a tire that was going bad in most cases it would have bigger cracks in them, then the small hair line ones. Check the inside and see if it is the same mine show almost nothing on the inside and the side that gets the most sun is worse the the other. I did cut a tire on steel put 2+" in the tread and was full load at speed when it went I was thinking it was from the cracks but I change it out I found the cut and the cracks on the side all looked the same. Just thinking that if the cracks were bad running on the flat the tire should have come apart but it did not.

Just my 2cents
Jon

Had a similar problem back in 1978 when BF Goodrich came out with their super duper offroad tires. I was pulling a trailer, and didn't care for the cracks around the entire circumfrance of the tire. Then one day, the whole sidewall blew, thank goodness I had just parked it infront of my house. Sounded like a gun going off. BF Goodrich prorated the tire, but wouldn't do anything about the other 4, I had a spare. About 6 months I get a letter, they were recalling all early tires because they were blowing. I seams that all their testing was off road, and the stress of towing caused a flex that was not anticipated. The tread ply was so stiff that towing caused rotational flex that was destoring the sidewalls. They replaced all 5 of my tires and even refunded me for the prorated one. The Michleins could be having a similar problem.

The Michelins on my truck did the same thing. They wanted to pro-rate them. The extra cost was not worth it. I just bought Toyo's instead. I will not buy another Michelin again.
