06 Brake Controller (Brakesmart)
Does anyone have a Brakesmart installed on there 06?
I am thinking about getting one. Might as well get the best, or from what I have read. This will be my first brake controller.
Another question, will installing the Brakesmart void the warrenty? Because you have to tap into the brake lines. Disconnect from MC, then put a T in there. One gos to stock line, and one goes to the Brakesmart pressure sensor.
All help aperciated, thanks!

in my 06 owners manual it says...
DO NOT INSTALL A INLINE HYDRAULIC BRAKE CONTROLER it may cuase lose of brakes!!
I just put a prodigy in my 06 today. I read nothing but good about the prodigy when I was researching.
I think taping into the stock brake system would be a PITA. I just plugged mine in to hook it up and the harness came with the truck.
a regular brake controller wont void warranty but the in line hydro type may void your warranty if it tells you not to install it right in the owner's manual.
anybody else have input??

BrakeSmart is NOT a hydraulic brake controller. It is electric brake controller that apportions the amount of braking (electro-magnetic) based on hydraulic pressure reading via a tranducer. The transducer fitting works great and displaces very little fluid and has zero effect on ABS.
Can't imagine why installing a BrakeSmart would void warranty unless it were installed improperly and caused a fluid leak and other problems.
Mine has been trouble free for 37k miles and I would not use anything else. I've had my truck in for warranty work and it never came up that I had a BrakeSmart installed.

I have read posts in other forums that Jordan sold the company to Camco. Someone said they are coming out with an "new and improved" version of the Jordan 2020 in Oct. or Nov. Will be interesting to see what they do.

I really like my Brakesmart, and think it is worth the money. The advent of anti-lock brakes killed the old hydrolic pressure actuated controllers that displace fluid, but as posted above the Brakesmart has a solid state pressure transducer that doesn't displace fluid, and works with modern brake systems.
As far as the effect on the warranty, my dealer didn't say anything, but if you managed to contaminate the fluid or get air into the system I don't think you could expect the dealer to fix that under warranty.
The Jordan reads the application of the tow vehicle brake with a linkage to the brake pedal, which would be my second choice if I didn't have a Brakesmart.
Prodigy is in my view probably the best of the controllers that work off of sensing deceleration, and would likely be my 3rd choice. Actually, a buddy of mine just bought one on my recommendation. He only pulls a pop-up trailer with a F150 and wanted inexpensive and easy to install (no messing with the linkage or pressure sensor). He's quite happy with it.
I guess the bottom line for me would be- If money isn't an issue, or if your trailer is 10,000+, I'd get the Brakesmart. If money is a bit of an issue, the Jordan makes sense, and the Prodigy is also reasonably priced and quick and easy to set up...

I thought about the braksmart for awhile. Decieded to just get the Prodigy. It cost under $100 shipped off eBay. Thanks for your input, feel free to keep posting information!
