06 3500- What Do You Guys Think?
My old man is looking for a new truck and he found an 06 3500. I havent been around third gens to much, just wondering what you guys think about this one. It's a 6 speed, 4x4 DRW, I think they're asking $25,800 for it.

Price seems a little high to me. NADA book shows it as high retail around $24k but with the economy right now I would think you should be closer to $20k than $25k. It's a nice looking truck, 2006 was the last year before all the pollution control stuff was added.

I have an 06 Mega dually and I love it. I paid 28k for mine but that was a year and a half ago. looks like a good deal but I agree I would beat them up on the price seems high in these rough times.

price
My buddy salesman says buyers should be giving NADA trade-in price for used diesel trucks now. Adjustment up or down allowed for rare situations or poor condition.

I'd be trying to talk them down a little on price. The 6 speed in the 06 is geared a little low for highway driving empty, but most say it is in the sweet spot for towing.

paid 23.5k for mine with 38k miles on it this spring. the only 2 things i dont like is that the seats stain real easy and the g56 tranny is geared lower and their is no sweet spot for towing

well i have 85,000 miles on my 06 3500 srw. its a work truck so its haulin heavy $H!T all the time. did the ball joints at 75k (have 34" tall tires though) did a one piece driveline cause the i couldn't get the vibe out of the stock one.
love the ride, int, power, milage, turning rad, jusr about everything about it. by far the best truck i have owned and IMO the best truck dodge ever produced.
my last dodge(2nd gen 3/4 ton) had a pacbrake and i miss it dearly!!!!! i want that back soo badly, i tow 2-10 thousand lbs regularly and it is a huge bake saver and safety device. that would be the only real downer of my latest truck.
oh , if the tailgate doesn't already have the two outward dents on the upper side of the tailgate, then buy an ez-down tailgate helper for 50 bucks.
with repeated drops the tailgate there are two fasteners on the inside of the tailgate that pop outward cracking the paint on the tailgate. it doesn't bother me much as i am going to a flatbed soon. i think that is all

Well he went and looked at it yesterday, said it was really clean. The dealer wouldn't even budge on the price and it was going to be a straight up cash sale, no trade, so needless to say it's still sitting there. Guess these guys don't want to sell many vehicles.

Tell him to stop back three weeks from now (when the truck is STILL sitting there) They'll deal then.
