06 and 07 frames, bolting welding

all info regarding a tsb that states you shouldnt weld/b olt to a frame seems to be regarding an 03. is that correct? Are we safe with the 06/07's? I want to make some side steps for my rig

Why not make them clamp the frame?
My ranch hand steps bolt around the frame and hold just fine.

Id avoid welding the frame if at all possible(and drilling holes).

I guess I could clamp the frame but welding is SOOOOO much easier and Im lazy. I would prefer to bolt to be honest, but clamping would work. Any pics of how they clamped it?

eitherway, I would still ike to know if this issue only relates to the 03 models

You are not supposed to drill hydroformed frames... all the 03+ trucks are hydroformed

jeez, and Ford owns Cummins. All '03 and up hydroformed frames can be drilled/welded per TSB 13-001-03 issued way back in 2-7-03. Read the TSB which explains how to bolt through the frame tubes using sleeves and where/how to weld on the frame tubes. My 11200 GVWR 5er hitch brackets for my were welded in March of '03.

I am really not trying to stir things up but if you are lazy then why not go to an accessory shop and have them put on, then you don't have to do an thing!! LOL!!

You can drill and weld on the frame per TSB 13-001-03.
