05 Steering Box Leaking! Why?
My steering box is mostly oiled rather than dry rusty metal, and even has a very small drip that is hanging from the box itself. Anyone know anything about this? Is this an isolated problem or has anyone else experienced this?
And.....how much should you be able to move the pitman arm? It moves just a tad bit, and I don't know if that's normal or not.

05 Steering Box Leaking! Why?
My steering box leaked after 8 months, replaced under warranty. My power steering pump is now leaking, going in to shop tomorrow. I'm not sure the steering system is up to turning wheels with 2,200 - 2,500 lbs on each tire?

My roommate's 05' steering box started to leak after we went mudding/off-road he took it to the dealer and they looked under his truck and saw mud. They tried to tell him that since he took it in the mud they werent going to fix it. My buddy looked at them and said "so you mean to tell me that I can't take this 4 wheel drive heavy duty truck off road? I think I want my money back" they fixed his seals and hegot his truck the next day. (without replacing the box I'll have to tell him yall got your whole box replaced)

That's unreal! That's the kind of crap that they may tell me. "Due to the 35" tires causing excessive strain on the steering box sir, we're unable to cover your box under warranty".

I was changing my oil a couple of days ago, noticed a drip coming from the steering box too. Checked the fluid and it was down to the "add" line.
Funny, when I cracked open the power steering dipstick to check it I heard a "FFFFFFPT" like it was under a lot of pressure. Wonder what's up with that?
Have had ZERO problems with my truck in 31,000 miles. I guess something was bound to happen.

I was over the 36K miles so no warranty on it. I had to pay to have my death wobble fixed also.

I had what i thought was a leaky steering pump.Took it in a couple of times but they couldn't figure it out .They replaced the pump but it still leaked.I went back again the service manager came out and released the pump reservoir. The cap blew up into the sky.We put a new cap on the reservoir that had pressure bleed holes that were working and it has'nt leaked since.
