Lookin for some quick opinions. Lookin at 2 04s Ones the um metalic silver and the other is patriot blue. Jumpin through the treads and read some paints are thin Just lookin for some opionions on those who have those paints. Both are beautifull trucks. SO its stuck to which paints gonna look the best the longest ( im thinkin the silver will)

Next. Both have this 600 engine. Read about low mileages. Overhead after about a 13m test drive. all hwy settles about 16.4, which for new truck seems ok. Needs break in and all. But most ive read are below that or right at that. I kinda like the 21 than we get with the 99. So maybe those with a few miles can enlighten me as to what to expect.

Over all loved the trucks though. Steering was sharp and tight. Seemed a lil i dunno, doggier than my 99. From initial take off i mean. Have to wonder if they have some saftey features in the 48res that regulate power to save the slippage.

Any opinions are well appreciated. Lets hear it!

I have the patriot blue. Very nice looking color, but was not my first choice due to the same concerns you have. Plus scratches and water spots are very visible. I would have preferred white or silver.

Mine gets about 11 mpg unloaded - very disapointing. Build date is March, 04. Sounds like you checked yours out for death wobble, in cab fumes, and trip meter mpg seems Ok. Take it for another test drive and reset the mileage computer before you take off to get a true reading of your mileage against your driving style. Check the build date on the ones you're interested in - I'd look for May or later. It's on the tag on driver's door.

Think about if you're going to put bigger tires on it or not. You may want the 4.10's if you're going with 315/70's or better. I have 3.73 running 285/70's and haven't noticed much difference in terms of power, accel, towing, etc. but would notice with bigger tires.

All in all, a fantastic truck. LOL.

Yeah, I test drove the blue, It have very lil vibration at about 68. And if i hand read about it, i pry wouldnt have noticed it. I reset the overhead when leaving the lot. got about 8.9 going through town. Then got going down the hwy and it went to about 12. But Being i was "just lookin" didnt wanna crank miles on it so reset the trip again at hwy speeds And let it settle down. came out with the 16.4. which sounds better than most get but this is a computer so its probably off by 2 mpg haha

Appearently the new 600 takes a little longer to see more mpg. Give it alot more time. Another forum I visit I've heard many guys say the same things, after intake and exhaust mods and time, they all went up. The stock 04.5 exhaust is good to go, just use a freerer flowing muff.

First trip I took between home and Houston - got on I-10 and set the cruise - 14.5 mpg - scared the crap out of me - got 16k on the clock as of today. Normally get about 18.5 - 19 driving the speed limit to work (65 and 60 mph) at 4:30 in the morning (about 30 miles). Get a consistant 17-18 mpg driving 70 mph.
I got the Atlantic Blue - paint seems fine - build date early Jan. Does have a few scratches where the brush on the ranch gets too close and I haven't tried to get them out yet. I got the 4X4 because I have to cross some rough terrain to load cattle - it's a truck!
Beats the heck out of the '02 Chevy gasser 2500HD (6L 300hp) I traded on it - mileage, towing and fuel prices.

Mine is Pat Blue, build date 6/2/04. Color is real nice, my first choice, sorry guys. First tank was 16.4 mpg and second today is 17.1mpg. 90% hwy 9.5% local and .5% idol to show off for my friends.
Am seriously loving this ride. No mods yet. Am 7 days old and 927 miles.

I got the silver because this thing is big to wash and silver seems to hide the dirt better getting me two weeks between washes (I park in my garage). Also, I think the lighter colors don't reveal the little dings as much.

Either color looks great. You really can't make a mistake with either.

Good luck,
Neil

Lighter colors do hide better, but NOT my bright white and silver This truck looks nasty when dirty.

Silver here. Matches Ryholite and decomposed granite dust (sort of).

When I come to the city and get my truck washed, everyone stops, turns and stares at me for a moment when I pull in the car wash.

Can't figure why those clean little plastic cars need to be washed anyway
