Talking "610" MPG on 900 mi trip!!!!!!

Just got back from a 900 mile trip (Rhode Island to Va. and back). I was not in a big rush, so I decided to set the cruise @ 65 mph and see what I could get for mileage. Both ways I got 19.6 mpg. I know most of you drive alot faster than that, but I just wanted to see if could break 20 mpg. Although I did not break 20 mpg, I was pretty happy with the results. My truck has 27k,scottyIII,ramifier set on 70%, I also used a little extra "power service"(just a little spring cleaning)
Just thought I would share my results.

I just picked up my 05 last Saturday -- I know people say don't trust the overhead, but I have averaged 20.4 according to it in mixed highway/city driving. When I reset it at 55 mph it reads 23.6..... don't know, but I feel good about it (so don't burst my bubble).

coming from a hemi..... man, what a difference!!!

I can't trust my overhead(Ramifier throws it off) All of my figures are hand calculated. Filled it to the top of the neck every time. On the same trip with 5k I averaged 17.1 (thats without any mods)

I'm actually surprised that you didn't do better than 19.6 at 65, but perhaps the Ramifier had something to do with it. At 70 I will get about 20 on the dot (I have 25k on the clock, lots of towing), and it has been steadily increasing over time. I have also found that having something covering the bed makes a HUGE difference.

I just noticed you have an automatic. That probably accounts for the difference vs. my 6-speed.

Yes I had the reflash when it first came out. I had good mileage before the flash, however I wanted it to be better.

Just filled up tonight. 500+ miles mostly local with a couple of short hops on the highway. It handcalculated to 20.84 mpg. I think I'm keeping my 2003 for a while. I don't like the stories of others getting 17 as their highway mpg. The 325/610 is great but with fuel prices like they are I prefer mileage.

Odie,
Weren't you the one that had the driveshaft replaced because of the whine? Did that make any difference on mileage? Also I can't understand why everyone who has the "whine" just ignores it. I will take mine to the dealer when I get a chance...but I had hoped to hear more positive fixes out there first.
No luck though...just a bunch of jokes... and guys ignoring the problem.

dwhite,
Yes I had the driveshaft replaced. It works great, however the noise just started again after 5k miles. The good part, that the noise is very slight and barely noticable and only after it sits for a long time.

odie2219,
It seems to have helped but I'm still confirming. After buying it I drove from Elizabethtown, KY to South Bend, IN at 65/68 mph, taking off slow and had it on the 1st setting. My mileage, hand calculated, was just over 25. I'm thinking that I may not have topped it off completely because that is some great mpg. I've checked it since then with short trips and I've gotten between 21 and 23. Even yesterdays mileage included playing around a little with the box on high. I'm happy.
