04-05 Steering Gear...who makes a good one?

Got a customer that is on his second gear box in 18K. Yes it's lifted, yes it has large oversize tires and deep offset wheels. Is there any aftermarket gear that will last with the suspension mods?

He's probabaly getting a lot of side to side stress on the sector shaft. Try this - http://www.solidsteel.ca/Products.htm . I put it on my 05' from new (no lift) because of the issues I had with my prior 99' always wandering heavily, especially with road crown. Don't know if it prevented any problems that may have started on the 05' because like I said it was installed when new. 37k on the truck now and all is good. Good Luck

I'll second the solid steel set up or one simular, theres a few out there now. Especially with a lift or big wheels/tires. Also, Dont hesitate to put a good quality, greasable, rod end at the pitman arm on also. I would bet there is play there( as little as it may be ) beatin back and forth on the steering gear. especially if the angle is changed from stock. You'll be surprised how much play/wander that alone will take out.

Yeah get the DSS from Solid Steel or a vendor of theirs.
Great product. I had the same issue with my 2004.5 and upgraded to the DSS and about 70% of the wander is gone....good as new!

This product will also greatly extend the life of the steering box.
