buddy of mine got a new truck, smarty wont work anymore. question is, will a couple year old smarty still work with the latest ecm flash (j35) and do i have to get the smarty upgraded, just want it for deletes.

 

forgot to mention, his truck and mine both '08

 

If the truck you are loading it to has the newest Bootloader upgrade to the software, I think J35 has something to do with that, then yes, you will have to upgrade the Smarty S-67 to at least version 15 and later up to the recent version 23.

Yup.. You can download the latest version of the ME software as well as the USB driver and uploader software for the Smarty. Oh ya and 7zip if you don't already have it. I am running ver 23.

Make sure that Smarty is not vin locked to his old truck before you purchase it

Yes, to do the deletes you need the ME Program.
