Is the Smarty ME so good that.....

Is the Smarty ME program sooooo good that I should be willing to buy it, and then have to go out and buy the Edge Insight to monitor my desired parameters....or, purchase a single combination unit such as the Black Maxx from H&S, whom lots are going to for complete delete kits?
Not starting any fights here, just trying to get my arms around 6.7 mods and both what's available and the best combinations out there.
Thanks

I love my Smarty, but am sorry I cant help you make an informed decision on the two. I have heard nothing bad about H&S, but have not ran there tune.

This much I can tell you, Im not sure if you own a 6.7 yet, but once you delete it, either Smarty or H&S, you will not regret it.

thats something your gonna have to weigh you options out when choosing the right programmer and its features for your uses. Ive chosen the smarty because i have had it on my previous vehicles and they make a fine product that works awesome for my driving/towing styles. I prefer to use mechanical guages also. Ive never ran or been in a truck that has the H&S programmer in it but i hear they have some nice stuff as well.

Im with J on this one.

Whether you go Smarty or BlackMaxx,

Its hard to beat a good set of mechanical gauges.

I love my Smarty and this is the route I took due to not having such an option way back when. For me, this would have been pretty ideal to have the programmer and gauges in one.

You should go for it and let us know what you think. I doubt you will be dissapointed any way you go about it.

A good set of actual guages IS the way to go. I got my Smarty for reasons other than power and felt the digital gauges was just a bump up in safety/securtiy on monitoring vitals from having nothing.

I the Smarty and the Edge Insight. No codes, reliable, no issues and EVERYTHING works like it did before, just better now. That being said I have not heard of anything bad from H&S. I like the screen.

If you are trying to avoid smoke, Id go with the Smarty. H&S tuning puts out a good bit of smoke on the higher tunes. Other than the smoke they do the same thing, H&S just has digital gauges.

I am sold on gauges myself over digital electronics because I like being able to see the needle where it belongs in a quick glance rather than reading numbers. Even out of the corner of my eyes I can tell if the needles are all resting in the correct places.

I suppose it may be a hold over from driving since the 60's but I honestly see the info quicker that way without having to take my eyes off the road and study something.

Go with what works the best for you

Same here. Much better troubleshooting too with gauges vs electronics. If I had electronic on my 97, I never would see the surging turbo..

I just figured that was a holdover from when you where an engineer on the steam engines....
