I am confused about deletes. What am I capable of doing with the Smarty and no other modifications? Do I need a delete pipe and other stuff or can I delete with just the Smarty?

Someone correct me if im wrong but the Smarty is just a programmer to add more power to your engine and the ME version will let you run without any check engine lights from the deletes.

 

smarty (me) is the programmer that allows the truck to run right without check engine lights after the hard parts are removed/replaced. You will still need a delete pipe or turbo back exhaust to get the hard parts out of the exhaust. The (s) version will allow for the power increase and shuts down the egr, but will allow you to keep all of the exhaust intact and you will still have regens.

both are the same programmer just with different software loaded.

I don't see what year/model truck you have. As far as I know the smarty jr is good up through 2010, the smarty sr is only good up thru 2009.

JR software for up to 11 is now being beta tested. SR software for 11 will be released in beta form soon

 

Thanks Jeff. That is exactly what I was looking for. At present I have an '06 but my wife wants it. So I am looking at getting something else. Probably going to be either new or next to new dually. I'm not too worried about the DPF and the regens but I sure would like to get the EGR shutoff. Looks like it will be the regular "S" version when I buy.

Just checking everything out before I buy.

 

If you buy new enough to have a 6.7, you WILL want to delete.
The cost is not too much different, a Smarty ME plus a delete pipe will net you as much as 5 mpg improvement.
Emissions testing? Currently in Ontario it's a 'visual', they charge $35 to look at the tail pipe, "No smoke", Pass!
