Pretty simple huh? The block-off plug is just another "dam" to help prevent that nasty crud getting by the EGR valve that will no long operate due to your cleaver extracting and unplugging.

Did my deletes today (Smarty Jr, Nox Cat/DPF delete to muffler, unplugged the TV plug, took the plunger/spring out of the EGR motor and reconnected). It took maybe an hour if that, and we bs'd a lot also during the install. I recommend this basic delete set up for anyone who has to go back to stock for smog testing or dealership visits for whatever reason.
I loaded the Stock SW, and no more turbo lag, also more peppier. Then on to the SW1, and has some ***** for a 40hp tune.. Slight haze when getting on it, but smooth power (will not draw attention).
The sound was similiar to stock other than at idle, a little more Cummins rumble & a sweet turbo whistle noise w/ the EB on coming out of the tailpipe (like a small jet).

I've been reading on this and doing research. When I thought of deletes, I thought of physically taking out the DPF and practically straight-piping the exhaust all the way from the turbo and back. I just got my first notice to get my truck smogged so I didn't bother to do anything to the truck's engine to increase its performance because of this very reason. I was wondering if there were any California DTR people that have experienced the successful smog check after doing the above mentioned deletes and then going back to the original settings.
Again, my truck is completely stock...I'm being held by the b@lls by the California legislation and environmentalists to sacrifice power and efficiency so that birds can nest and polar bears won't get stranded on chunks of ice due to global warming... oh wait a minute... it changed to 'global climate disruption.'

Although mega-engr, since we are in the great state of Cali w/ the smog testing now on diesels. Do you revert back to stock or found a smog friendly shop when it's time to smog your truck? I have yet to see one up here in NorCal. That's my biggest set back, having to revert back every two years. Plus we have a couple LEO traffic division in my city that look/ask for missing diesel emission equipment now (obviously when you get pulled over for an unrelated violations, then the questions start to fly).
That's why it's a no go or not in the plans of yet (still getting the feel w/ this new diesel regulations here), but I figure atleast, I can get away w/ a Smarty JR or XRT (now has DPF on tunes).
Or maybe I just need to grow a pair!!!!!

I was wondering what easy modifications are out there aside from buying the smarty that will be easy to reverse on the years that I have to get my truck smogged.

My deletes will take 45-60 minutes tops to return back to stock for smog test, or for whatever reason. Well worth it now since I did the deletes. My noise is no different than stock, and no smoke (slight haze) in the upper rpm band. So no attraction to LEO. Most LEO's don't know what to look for in the new diesel emission regulations, other than the standard "do you have your cat on"... In which I do, by leaving the down pipe on that has the scrub cat filter like the 5.9 CTD trucks down stream in the exhaust.
Don't let the "I'm living in California" stop you from doing a basic delete. If you live in the SF North Bay, I'll let you take a ride in my truck to see the difference, and what my NOx filter Cat and plunger (out of the EGR Acuator motor) looks like after 13,000 miles of nasty soot.
