Smarty or EFI Live?

Hey All,
Truck is in the shop right now with a full exhaust filter and I'm not paying $3000 Canada for a new one. I'm just wondering if anybody has any thought's on the two? I know that there is a pile of people running Smarty on the site but haven't really heard to much about EFI Live? Does it do the same type of stuff as the Smarty. Like turn off all that crap that the EPA put on are trucks.
Worse thing is, is that there is only 124,000 KM on my truck and it's done! I drive 30 mins to work and back every day and it's all highway. The EPA doesn't think about stuff like addatives in the fuel like the conditioner used up here to stop jelling and what that does to the filters.
Not trying to start another pissing match here, I know that H&S makes one too. I just don't need the gauges because I already have them and I know that it smokes more then the Smarty and that's why I'm leaning more towards the Smarty and EFI Live. Although I don't know if the EFI Live smokes a lot or not.
Thanks again all for all your help with this.
Cheers Mac.

Between the two, I would wait a minute and then get the efiLive. I don't think they have released the non-emissions tuning yet on the 6.7 but it is coming. Check the results they have had so far on the 5.9 and you will be impressed. EfiLive can absolutely be tuned to not smoke at all. It provides a very fine control over fueling levels to get rid of smoke but make amazing power.

If you have to have the truck running immediately without emissions stuff, the smarty is good. Many people really like them for tuning.

I know that the Smarty is good and lots of people are running them with no problems and there very happy.

But I I'm going to go with the EFI Live because of the tuneability of them and the power and MPG and driveablitily of them as well. Yea the delete tune will be coming out soon, but people have already found away around this and have deleted with there EFI Live already.

Dougal, do you have any additional info on what solutions these others folks are using? I too am leaning toward the EFI Live but don't want to live forever with the CEL and codes. Are they using Shibby EGT Sims or something along those lines?

Yea gonna call a few shops and see what is best for me. Talking with the guys at EFI Live said that some shops offer access to there tune libary and some shops offer 2-3 free tunes and some offer free help over the phone. The guys at EFI Live are extremely helpful with any questions that you may have.

Yea as soon as I get mine and have it installed I will be sure to let you guys know how it works. The one thing that is nice about it from what I've been told is that If you get a shop to set up a tune for you. And you run it, then you use EFI Live to map your ECM and you send it back to the shop they can tweak it so it run at optimum capacity.

From what the guys have told me is that you delete it like you would with a Smarty or H&S and that it runs fine with no codes.

Plus the guys at EFI Live are asking for anything that you would like to see it control and they will try to accommodate for you.

Cheers Mac.
