Just ordered goodies from the dtr store!!!!
Well guys, I just ordered the south bend dual disc 3600 clutch with the upgraded hydraulics package, and autometer boost, & a pyrometer gauges. Got the column mount dual gauge pod coming too. Really excited!!!
Any advice on installing the clutch is appreciated. Also, where to run the boost tube and the pyrometer leads thru the firewall into cab would help.
Thanks in advance!

Kerry,
Look under where the clutch pedal runs through. There will be a decent sized grommet there that you can use to sneak your wires through.

Hey Blake! Thanks! I just came in from the driveway and found the spot you suggested before I saw this! Ha!! That is a good spot, I'll be using it tomorrow when I put in the gauges. Thursday is clutch day. I'm gonna take lots of pics and do a writeup.
Totally, Thanks for the tip. Makes sense to go ahead and do it. I'm going to heed your advise and change that while I'm in there.

Update, parts installed
Well guys, the clutch is in and the gauges installed. I didn't take many pics like I planned as my hands were full with the work, but I got a couple.
The gauges were easy, ran the wires thru the spot Blake suggested. Tapped into the dimmer switch wire for power to the gauge lights, power for the pyro came from the cig lighter. Mounted them on the steering column in a pod made by auto meter.
As for the clutch, Oh boy. Not an easy chore for 2 guys to do on the shop floor. My advice.... if you're not gonna pay someone else to do it, get a tranny jack!!!!! We tried doing it with a floor jack and ended up renting a tranny jack. Wasted a whole evening fighting it on a floor jack trying to get it stabbed back in. And while it's out, do the rear main seal as totally suggested. I also changed out the gear oil. Easy to drain before you drop the trans, then refill it from inside the truck before you put the shift tower back on. Anyway, here's a couple pics.
I kow this is kinda vague, I did all the work a little over a week ago, so I'm a touch fuzzy on deets. I'm sure if you ask something I'll remember though...

And here's the gauges installed
Here's a pic I took of the gauges. Look at them closely and you can see she's not working very hard. I was pulling my brand new KZ spree 32ft 8000# camp trailer when I took it. Also just a pic to show off my GDP manifold...

Kerry you probably exceeded your DTR space for pictures.
Get a photobucket account, its free, easy to use, and you can embed the pictures in the post instead of having to upload and attach them.
Works looks really good too! Now your gonna see a whole different truck.

Gauge poor?
The flywheel really sucked!!! Those 8 bolts only accesible from the backside is the dumbest thing I've seen in awhile. Darn thing rotated down on me with the last bolt still in. Fought it for 2 hours getting that last bolt out.

How did the seal install go?
#15
Kerry,
Have you installed your clutch yet? I hope I caught you in time because there is another seal that sits behind the transmission adapter that bolts to the engine that you should replace while everything is out.
When I replaced my first clutch on my 05 G56 at 199K miles, I replaced the seal housing retainer(25.00 at cummins), retainer gasket, real seal along with the seal that sits in front of the camshaft on the engine. Also, check your drive shaft to make sure there is no deep grooves. If so, you will need to get the real main seal w/wear sleeve. If you do, you will need a special tool for that. I hope you don't, but let me know and I will guide you through it.
