J35 and Smarty. Acting weird.

My truck is stock (except larger tires and Smarty). I finally took the truck into the dealer for the J35 recall. I put the truck back to stock setting with the Smarty before I did. Truck ran fine until I tried to update my catcher back to the #2 setting. Now it runs fine for a minute then I lose all but minimum power. Truck doesn't shut off or throw any codes. Just has no power...can floor it and it goes no faster. Then I can wait an power comes back on only to loose power after a few seconds. Am I missing something?

That is weird and a bit scary. I hope they didn't do something to computer with the J35 recall that screws with the Smarty now...

Have tried putting the Smarty back to stock again and see? Are you running the ME version?

No CEL. I'm using the first version of the S-67 (not ME model). The update I downloaded is supposed to be compatible with the J35 from what I read. I put the truck back to stock settings and it works fine.

Thought I'd start a new post since I couldn't find any that were related.

Well I'm not sure what the problem was but I just re-downloaded the update. Installed it on the box and reinstalled it into the truck. No issues so far. I'm guessing it just may have been a glitch with something not getting transferred right the first time somewhere.

Why #2 setting if you don't mind asking? SW2 is 30 hp without any timing advances. Timing will help in the mileage dept.

Actually (according to my literature), #2 is 60HP with no timing. I normally run #3 (60HP with timing) but thought I'd try no timing just to see how much quieter it was. I like the noise of timing so I actually put it back to #3 setting right after it started working.

the latest tunes from smarty include the j35 updates (no need for the dealer to tune)

I guess I misunderstood. I was under the impression the latest smarty was just compatible with the J35 updated. I didn't realize it actually re-flashed the computer with the same information that you get from the dealer. Oh well....it's done and working now.

When you put the Smarty back to "stock" it loads the latest version of the software released to the dealers that was loaded into the Smarty. That is if you run the latest version of the Smarty software.

Conceivably if you never went to the dealer (like me) if you didn't upgrade from version 14, you would still not have the boatloader lockout that DC implemented a year ago with the J35 upgrade. But I took the plunge and run version 23 right now.
