I need some advice on a 6.7 Cummins swap
I have a 2008 QSB6.7 industrial/agricultural engine new in crate. From my research these are not built for peak power, but peak torque. I believe the engine is rated to 760 ft-lbs according to the info I found in Cummins documentation.
I am considering using this to repower an early 90's RV that needs a new engine. It currently has a GM 6.5L TD with plenty of problems. The trans is an Allison AT542. We aren't looking for performance etc but bc the peak torque is higher than on highway 6.7 engines I assume this is a better subforum to ask in.
From what I have found the AT542 won't stand up to that much torque and can't be made to do it. What would be a good trans that can be coupled to the QSB6.7 without too much difficulty? Keep in mind there are currently no electronic controls for the engine/trans so a non-electric trans may be easier.
Additionally, are there any resources on what controls etc will need to be added to get the QSB6.7 to run in a vehicle that doesn't currently have any sort of engine controls? The 6.7 engine has a computer on it, I'm going to have to at least do some computer based communications with it right?
